CRACKDOWN ON POACHING

Crack down on poaching

Information continues to flow into us about those who poach on private lands administered by various Iwi trusts.

This group of poachers in the photos below were caught in Lake Taupo Forest recently.

They had travelled from out of the region, having planned a weekend hunting trip. Thanks to the good work of some locals, we were able to disrupt their plans.

Managing Director of RUSEC security, Craig Webb, says, “Landowners wishing to hunt these locations are expected to abide by conditions outlined in the permits that only they are able to obtain. A dim view will be taken on those who run roughshod over this process, and anyone caught doing so can expect a visit from the law.”

Trespass Notices were issued on the spot for all concerned, and a Police Investigation is underway to determine whether Criminal charges will be laid.
