A timely reminder whanau just to be careful when you’re out and about in the forests.

The attached photo shows two tamariki hanging off the side of a vehicle whilst it is driving along a road that was being used by logging trucks. It was moving at speeds that ranged between 25 - 40km p/hr. It may have been fun at the time for those concerned but the consequences of an encounter with a logging truck coming the other way could have been catastrophic.

Thankfully, one of our patrols was able to intervene and an accident was avoided.

We urge all to act responsibly and safely when venturing into the great outdoors and make sure we all get home to our loved ones.

Mauri ora !
